Looking for something off-the-beaten-path in Spain? Try Ruta de las Caras!

As the name suggests, it is a small walking path with carved faces.

You can also sit on a bench and view the crystal blue reservoir below.

It’s about a 2-hour drive from central Madrid and was part of a larger trip for me. You’ll likely want to tag some other things on to your trip there as well since the walk itself is short.

It could even make for a lovely weekend trip if you book a place in the surrounding town and just spend time connecting with nature.

Even though I visited years ago, this still seems to be a lesser-known location when visiting Spain. It’s a great way to get away from crowds and to be active as well. That tends to be the type of traveler I am at my core, and I know many other people feel the same 🙂
